VIP EVENT “CHARITIES UNITE PDX” – PRIVATE HANGAR PARTY AT THE OREGON INTERNATIONAL AIR SHOW

The first annual Charities Unite PDX event held on September 28, 2018 was a huge success! This special private hangar air show event united us with Self Enhancement, Inc. and Brian Grant Foundation to raise awareness and support of our programs. Big thanks to the owners of the hangar and philanthropists Sue and Steve Larson and title sponsors V&B Philanthropy, Jeanette E. Heinz and Howard Hedinger for your support. We’re already looking forward to next year!

About the Foundation

The foundation is named in honor of Maurice Lucas (1952-2010), the starting forward on the 1977 NBA champion Portland Trail Blazers team. Besides his outstanding achievements on the court, Lucas also gave selflessly of his time and energy to Portland youth. The Maurice Lucas Foundation focuses on middle school kids in the Portland metro area. The foundation teaches life lessons through sport. After school programs, sports camps and outings change the lives of the youths who participate. Since its formation, 436 students have successfully completed the foundation’s academies and hundreds of others have participated in its sports programs.

The Maurice Lucas Foundation has taught me about my potential and how to get it. I need to work hard and stay focused. This program also taught me everything can’t go my way and there will be bumps in the road. I have dedicated three years because the program helped me to believe in myself and to achieve my dreams and think of new ones. The most important pillar to me is positivity. Positivity to me is making someone else smile and making their day better than yesterday.”
