Maurice Lucas Foundation partnered with Capital Fieldhouse to provide two free sport camps this summer

The Maurice Lucas Foundation partnered with Capital Fieldhouse in Salem, Oregon, to provide two free sport camps this summer.

During the volleyball camp in July, all fundamentals of setting, passing, and defense were covered through fun drills and competitive play. Camp included players from 3rd - 10th grade, who were coached by athletes from Capital City Elite Volleyball Club.

The basketball camp in August hosted players of the same age group. There was a surprise visit from former NBA player, Martel Webster, who spoke to the campers about the importance of teamwork, leadership, and persistence. Thank you to Fuego Mexican Grill and Little Caesars Pizza for sponsoring delicious lunches for the campers!

About the Maurice Lucas Foundation

The Foundation is named in honor of the late Maurice Lucas (1952-2010), the leading scorer on the 1977 NBA champion Trail Blazers team. Besides his outstanding achievements on the court, Lucas also selflessly gave his time and energy to Portland youth. Since its formation in 2010, the Maurice Lucas Foundation has served thousands of students and families through its Academy program, basketball camps and teams.
