Celebrities to compete at 18th Annual Maurice Lucas Foundation Celebrity Golf Invitational Tournament in Aloha on July 20

WHAT:
The Maurice Lucas Foundation will hold its 18th annual Celebrity Golf Invitational tournament. The event raises funds for the free academic and athletic programs the foundation provides to middle school through post-high school students and families in the Portland area.

The winning team will receive a first-class trip to Bandon, including transportation on a private jet and a day of free play at the Bandon Dunes golf course.

Luxe Christie’s International Real Estate and Forbes Global Properties are the tournament’s presenting sponsors. D&C Motor Company is the event’s title vehicle sponsor.

WHERE:
The Reserve Vineyards and Golf Club in Aloha, Ore.

WHEN:
Wednesday, July 20 (10:30 a.m. to noon would be the best time to interview the participants)

WHO:
The field of 280 golfers – the largest ever for this event – will consist of many NBA, NFL and MLS sports celebrities. Participants will also include former Trail Blazers Dale Davis, Brian Grant, Steve Johnson and Martell Webster, as well as Bobby Gross, Lionel Hollins and Lloyd Neil from the 1977 championship team.

WHY:
The golf tournament is one of the nonprofit foundation’s major sources of funds. The tournament continues a tradition started decades ago by the late Maurice Lucas, the leading scorer on the 1977 NBA championship Trail Blazers team and a beloved Portland community leader.

About the Maurice Lucas Foundation

The Foundation is named in honor of the late Maurice Lucas (1952-2010), the leading scorer on the 1977 NBA champion Trail Blazers team. Besides his outstanding achievements on the court, Lucas also selflessly gave his time and energy to Portland youth. Since its formation in 2010, the Maurice Lucas Foundation has served thousands of students and families through its Academy program, basketball camps and teams.
