About the Position
We are looking for a nonprofit fundraiser or sales professional who believes in the Maurice Lucas Foundation mission and will demonstrate exceptional drive to further our existing fundraising efforts and help strategize and deliver new ones.
The ideal candidate will be experienced in managing a portfolio of donors or customers, making in-person asks, writing proposals for individual and corporate funders, and have a track record in securing gifts. The Donor Relations and Fundraising Specialist will work in partnership with the Executive Director and Development Director to identify, cultivate, and solicit gifts from new individual and corporate donors and to steward and maintain existing donor relationships. They will work to create and fulfill the donor experience, from acquisition to stewardship. This is an excellent growth opportunity for a fundraising or sales professional to work toward collective goals while fulfilling a primary role in the organization’s development department.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL DUTIES OF POSITION
Individual must be able to perform each essential duty listed below:
- Develop deep relationships and work with key corporate and private contacts.
- Responsible for conducting personal visits with current and prospective mid-level donors.
- Raise funds for organization’s budgetary needs and meet annual personal goal of $250k to $500k by securing mid-level Major Gifts of $1,000 and above.
- Research, cultivate and solicit corporate prospects based on goals established in the annual Development Plan which will support the Maurice Lucas Foundation goals.
- Builds and manages a portfolio of mid-level individual and corporate donors by soliciting, cultivating, and stewarding prospects for programmatic support.
- Works with the Development Team to move toward unrestricted giving model, speaking to donors about the importance of this process.
- Upholds confidentiality and protects donor privacy by exercising discretion and adhering to all standards and ethics or privacy rights.
- Attend community events, meetings, or conferences to promote organizational goals or solicit donations or sponsorships.
- Effectively convey the organization’s mission, vision, and programs to potential donors.
- Proven ability to create and build infrastructure to leverage fundraising success.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to interact effectively with agency leadership, donors, and prospects
- Ability to persuade and influence others.
- Ability to assess and interpret the needs and wishes of prospective and current donors and to translate these into effective action plans.
- Ability to balance competing priorities, complex situations, and tight deadlines.
- Proven track record in successfully soliciting and closing gifts of $1,000 to $25,000.
- Ability to network and build relationships with a variety of audiences.
- Proven organizational skills including the ability to manage multiple tasks, projects and relationships simultaneously and produce high quality results on time.
- Must possess excellent interpersonal, persuasive, feedback (giving and receiving) and problem-solving skills, creative writing skills, and speaking in both group and individual settings.
- Exceptional team player with proven ability to lead through influence.
- Brings a strong personal business network to their role.
