David Lucas, Founder & Executive Director

David is the Founder & Executive Director of the Maurice Lucas Foundation, which he founded in 2010. He is responsible for developing strategies for growth and overall direction, board development, fundraising and cultivating relationships with foundation supporters and sponsors. David has a passion for fostering and developing opportunities for students in the Academy program. In addition to leading the Maurice Lucas Foundation, he currently serves on the Portland Trail Blazers Foundation, the Providence Milwaukie Foundation Board and the Sport Oregon Board. In June 2018, the Portland Business Journal recognized Mr. Lucas as one of the top 40 business leaders in Portland under the age of 40. He also received the 2020 Liberty & Hope Award from the League of Minority Voters. David is also the Founder of Lucas Design+Build & Compass Auto Group. Along with these business endeavors, he also maintains and services a portfolio of real estate properties. Sheila Zachry, Program Director & Chief of Staff

A native of Oregon, Sheila graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Western Oregon University in Monmouth and earned her Master’s in Teaching at Lewis & Clark College in Portland. As a life-long educator in the Portland Metro area and Memphis, Tennessee, she has worked as a classroom teacher, instructional coach, director of curriculum, and a principal. Sheila is well versed in the inequities in the educational system and uses her diverse experience and passion to fight for equitable and inclusive educational opportunities for all students. She believes in teaching students the power and influence they can have if they lift up their individual and collective voices for change.

Erica was born and raised in Southern California where she worked in education and non profits before she made the move to Portland, Oregon to work for the Maurice Lucas Foundation. She found her passion working with the youth as a young mentor and it blossomed into her finding other ways to serve and give back to the community. She has been involved with teaching, developing before and after school programs, hosting and speaking at events to empower others. Erica’s motto is “Always be kind and use the power of positive thinking.” which she tries to exemplify in her everyday life.

Karen has a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education from Oregon State University. She is a retired physical education instructor who worked in the Portland Public School system for 33 years. Karen retired in 2009, and the following year began volunteering to help create the Maurice Lucas Foundation in Portland. In 2020, Karen was presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award from the World Arts Foundation honoring her lifetime commitment to helping children succeed.
Scott Campbell, Harriet Tubman Academy Manager

Scott is a first-generation American born and raised in Glendale, CA. In 2015, he moved to Oregon, transferring from La Sierra University to Portland State. He graduated in 2018 with a BS in Business Administration, with a Philosophy minor. One of Scott's favorite quotes came from his maternal grandfather who said to "spend time on all things that are edifying". Edification is defined as the act of instructing or improving (someone) morally or intellectually, which is his desired outcome each day.
Shelby Blasingame, Parkrose Academy Manager

Shelby grew up in the Portland-Metro area, graduated from Beaverton High School, and after studying at Portland Community College, she continued where her heart ultimately lies, in the world of educating children. She hails from a large family where she learned the importance of teamwork, persistence, and positive influences. As Parkrose Academy Manager, Shelby is able to bring her core values and passions into the forefront where she can support children on their own path of realizing their dreams.

Alijah graduated from Oregon State University and holds a bachelor degree in Psychology and is working to earn an additional degree in Human Development and Family Sciences. She has loved working with kids as long as she can remember, her passion, through nannying and working in daycare centers. She is eager to support students through the Maurice Lucas Foundation.

Tammie was born and raised in Portland, Oregon and pursued a business degree from Portland State University. She enjoys traveling, cooking, entertaining and most of all spending time with her family. She and her husband have been long time friends of Maurice and his family, and she enjoys working with David at the Foundation.
Board of Directors
Todd Hanchett, Chair
Todd Hanchett is partner at Stoel Rives LLP and represents employers in litigation and labor law matters. Todd holds a degree in business administration from Walla Walla College and a J.D. from Willamette University College of Law. Todd is the former Chair of the Best Practices Committee of the Diversity Section of the Oregon State Bar and a former board member of the Oregon Chapter of the Federal Bar Association. Todd currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Oregon Association of Defense Counsel.
Drew Force, Vice Chair
Drew is co-founder and Creative Director at FORCE, a brand consulting and design agency based in Portland, Oregon. For the past 30 years, he has developed strategic creative work for brands like adidas, Nike, Intel, Johnson & Johnson and Sherwin-Williams. He is also a photographer and filmmaker. He has a degree in fine art from Portland State University. Previously, Drew served on the Board of Trustees at Oregon College of Art and Craft.
Pamela Lucas, Honorary Chair
Pam has a Bachelor of Science in education/psychology from Southern Methodist University. She is currently Vice President of ML Sports, Inc., a sports management firm and owner of a janitorial company.
Wendy Campos, Treasurer
Wendy is a tax partner at Moss Adams and has been in public accounting since 2000. She focuses primarily on tax-exempt organizations, including higher education institutions, foundations (both private and public), social service organizations, hospitals, credit unions, and other not-for-profit organizations. Wendy leads the firm’s tax-exempt practice, as well as, the Foundation’s practice and is a trusted business advisor to her clients.
Brian Bills, Member at Large
Brian Bills is a dual graduate of UCLA, earning his BA in International Relations/Political Science in ’95 and his J.D. with an emphasis in International Law in ’99. He is the Founder of AcerLogic Education Services, LLC where he and his team work with driven young students to realize their dreams of studying at top undergraduate and graduate schools throughout the world. He has extensive experience in academic content development and curriculum design and holds a deep passion for education and supporting motivated youth. He currently serves as a member of the Lake Oswego School District’s Board of Directors.
David Bishop, Member at Large
Former Chief of Police with both the Newberg and Beaverton police departments, David has also served on the board of directors for the Boys & Girls Club of Portland, St. Mary’s Home for Boys, and Oregon State Athletic Commission Chair.
Jason Downey, Member at Large
Jason Downey is a Family Wealth Director and Senior Vice President at Morgan Stanley in Lake Oswego. Jason has a degree in Business/ Economics from Willamette University. He has been a financial advisor for over 20 years beginning his career at Morgan Stanley Dean Witter in 2000. His philanthropic passions revolve around helping children. He currently is involved with St. John Fisher School, Beaverton Rotary Investment Committee and Meals on Wheels. In his free time he enjoys spending time with his family, coaching youth sports, and gardening.
Libra Forde, Member at Large
Libra Forde is an education advocate, non-profit leader, management expert, former professional athlete, and mother of three. Libra believes that community service is not an option, it is her duty. For her work, Libra has been recognized with a Women of Excellence Social Justice award by Delta Sigma Theta and a Phenomenal Woman 2021 award.
Bobby Gross, Member at Large
A former NBA player, in addition to his work with the Maurice Lucas Foundation, Bobby serves as trustee with the Clackamas Emergency Services Foundation, and as commissioner with the Oregon State Athletic Commission.
Keith Houlemard, Member at Large
Keith attended San Diego State University and earned a BS in Business Finance and played Aztec Baseball. Keith began at Nike in 1989 and worked there for 30 years in a number of roles. Keith was President of the Jordan Brand from 2008-2012 and his last focus was VP/GM of Nike Running in Europe, Middle East and Africa. Today Keith is involved with his company (FOODe) that he co-founded with friend Ron Walden, is an Angel Investor, Consultant, and continues to serve on a number of Non-Profit Boards including Black Fives Foundation.
Sam Isaac, Member at Large
Sam Isaac is a Vice President, Senior District Manager in Branch Banking for Wells Fargo & Company and is currently the Executive Sponsor for the Oregon Chapter of Wells Fargo’s Middle Eastern Employee Resource Network. Sam has been in banking for 18 years and recently graduated from the Pacific Coast Banking School at the University of Washington and earned a Leadership Certificate from the Foster School of Business in 2022. Sam has been involved with many non-profit organizations throughout his career and most recently served on the Board of Professionals for the Portland Trailblazers. Sam enjoys traveling and spending time with his family in his free time. He is also a musician and has played guitar in several bands throughout his life.
Paul Meade, Member at Large
A native Oregonian, Paul earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Oregon State University. Paul is currently the Chief Financial Officer of Columbia Distributing, one of the Nations largest beverage Distributors. Paul has previously served on multiple not profit boards and committees including The American Tinnitus Association and Meals on Wheels.

David graduated from Oregon State University and holds a degree in Psychology and Communications. In addition to leading the Maurice Lucas Foundation he currently serves on the Portland Trail Blazers Foundation's Board of Professionals. Cedric Berry
Cedric is a State Farm Agency Owner and an Oregon State University alum. He is a philanthropist and Portland native whom is known for serving his community. Cedric has been in the Finance and Insurance Industry for over 15 years and provides his clients with a full range of high-quality Insurance products and services.
Jamaal Brown
Jamaal is a commercial real estate advisor at Colliers International Portland and specializes in commercial real estate needs, primarily Downtown office space leasing. Jamaal has a Business Entrepreneurship degree from Concordia University where he was a scholarship athlete on the Men’s Basketball team. Prior to Concordia he attended Jesuit and Tigard High School. Jamaal has been close friend to the Lucas family since middle school and has been on our board since the Foundation's inception.
Jessica Flint
Jessica is an Associate Family Law Attorney at Gevurtz Menashe with an emphasis on international and domestic family law. She is a lifelong Oregonian and received her Juris Doctorate from Lewis & Clark Law School in 2011. Prior to that, she received her Bachelor of Science from Willamette University. In addition to her membership in various legal associations and committees, Jessica provides pro bono representation for survivors of domestic violence and actively supports Pi Beta Phi Fraternity for Women, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, and Dove Lewis.
Kelsey Gray
Kelsey is a residential realtor at John L. Scott Real Estate. A Portland native, she attended Jesuit High School before getting her bachelor’s degree at Loyola Marymount University where she graduated with academic and athletic leadership honors. Post-graduation Kelsey spent time working in sponsorship sales and marketing for the Chris Dudley Foundation and University of Portland Athletics while also coaching high school sports. During this time, Kelsey’s passion grew for filling the gaps for youth beyond sport and giving them the tools needed to succeed. Kelsey is excited to serve the Maurice Lucas Foundation and their goals. Life is about using your gifts to build your community and I look forward to doing just that with the Maurice Lucas Foundation.
Marcus Harvey
Marcus is the owner of Portland Gear and @portland on Instagram with over 330,000 followers all over the world. With his experience in branding, community events and sports, Marcus is excited to join the ML2020 board and help the program grow.
Lauren Hasson
Lauren graduated Summa Cum Laude with degrees in Communication and Theatre Arts from the University of Arizona. She is currently a real estate Broker with Hasson Company Realtors, and was recognized and awarded by the National Association of Realtor’s as one of top 30 Realtors under the age of 30 in the Nation. Lauren also serves as a Board member for Dress for Success Oregon.
Huston Hedinger
Huston works in finance with a focus on Private Equity and Real Estate. Before investing professionally, he worked in technology. He has a Bachelor's from University of Oregon, and continued his schooling at Middlebury International Institute in Monterey earning a Master’s Degree in International Development Policy. Huston enjoys outdoor leisure activities and spending time with his wife and four kids.
Natasha Hedinger, Secretary
Natasha graduated from Nova Southeastern University with a degree in business administration, and specialized in public administration at the American University of Beirut in Lebanon. She spent her time in Florida working for Emgage where she engaged with communities to be more involved with the civic process by helping them communicate with their local officials. She currently sits on the board for this organization. Natasha received an Executive MBA in 2022 at the University of Oregon, and currently lives in Portland with her husband and four kids. She has enjoyed being involved with the Maurice Lucas Foundation for 10 years. She spends her time actively participating in organizations that provide resources toward youth mentorship.
Yasmine Hraish
Yasmine is an accomplished marketing and creative communications professional with experience in digital and direct marketing, in goods and services, brand strategy and positioning. She developed marketing and promotional concepts/strategies for client objectives, and is a leader in vision, strategies and tactics by developing marketing plans. Yasmine graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Marketing from Portland State University.
Sydne Jacoby
Sydne has practiced public accounting since 2018 and is a Senior in the Assurance Department at Moss Adams. She sits on the committee of several Business Resource Groups including ForumW, Black BRG, LatinX BRG and Pride BRG. Prior to her career at Moss Adams, Sydne attended the University of Portland where she studied business and accounting, with a minor in criminal justice and sociology. "I could not imagine a better foundation that aligns my own views both on academics and athletics but also the development of young adults," says Sydne.
Mikayla Mason
Mikayla is a real estate broker with eXp Realty, who specializes in working with both residential builders and investors. She brings her eye for detail and design to all projects she has the privilege of working on. Learning from her father, a remodeling contractor, while working with him over the years, has helped her hone these skills. Throughout her youth, Mikayla played in multiple sports; and was taught the value and importance of character development, discipline (in and out of the classroom) and teamwork. Her love of sports and helping others led her to volunteering with the Maurice Lucas Foundation for the past 5+ years. Mikayla truly believes in ML20's mission statement and efforts to help the youth in the community achieve their goals.
Dave Montagne
Dave is a long time Oregon resident and a graduate of Oregon State University where he had a very successful football career. Dave knows the impact playing sports has had on his life and career and is passionate about providing that opportunity to the youth of our community. He is excited to contribute to as a Board Member to the Maurice Lucas Foundation. Dave is also a multifamily real estate developer in Oregon.
Gabby Olivares
Gabby is a skilled Sport Marketing Operations Professional with over 12 years of experience leading all stages of innovative, brand-driven, marketing-oriented, and revenue-generating sporting events. She has extensive experience in all aspects of achieving organizational goals including event production, venue procurement, developing insights, conducting key analysis, and collaborating with cross-functional teams. Gabby has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of the Pacific. Gabby is currently a Business Operations Manager for Brand Jordan.
Julie Peterson, ML2020 Board Chair
Julie is a native Oregonian with 20+ years in local mortgage lending and recently opened Peak Mortgage in the Pearl District. Julie also has a long history of non-profit work supporting local children’s charities. Her focus has been Board work and fundraising, but her true passion is actively volunteering and seeing the kids thrive. Julie has been involved with Sparks of Hope, Bridge Meadows, Project Lemonade, I Have a Dream Foundation, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and The Pongo Fund.
Sarah Price
Sarah lives in Lake Oswego with her husband and three children. Her life philosophy is simple, give back to the world we live in! We thrive in our connections to one another and by contributing to each other's lives. I’m honored to have the opportunity to join the ML20 board. I look forward to building relationships with fellow board members and being a part of a foundation that dramatically impacts the lives of at-risk and special needs youth. I am ready to contribute my time and energy in any way the foundation needs.
Jerry Wilson
Jerry is a native Oregonian and University of Oregon alumni. With over 25 years experience, Jerry continues his passion for assisting those in the pursuit of homeownership as a Senior Mortgage Advisor at Finance of America Mortgage. Married with two sons, Jerry is an active member in the community and honored to serve the Maurice Lucas Foundation.

Robin Davis
Robin is a Merchandising Project Coordinator and has been with Fred Meyer Jewelers for the past 19 years. She is a native Oregonian and graduate of Oregon State University. Robin has a passion for volunteering and fundraising across many organizations and currently serves on the Ambassador Board for CASA for Children of Multnomah, Washington, Columbia, and Tillamook Counties. She also represents Fred Meyer Jewelers on the Fundraising committee for Jewelers for Children, helping to raise funds for CASA, Make-A-Wish, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation.
Mike Erickson
Founder and CEO of AFMS – Global Transportation Consultants. Mike has been involved in the parcel industry for over three decades. AFMS is the leading parcel contract benchmarking, contract negotiation support and invoice auditing firms in the United States, Europe, and Canada. Mike has overseen the growth of AFMS into a nationally recognized transportation contract-benchmarking consulting firm with a team of over 30 former carrier executives; Many of them were VP’s and pricing directors with UPS, FedEx, and DHL prior to joining AFMS.
Jim Gaffney
Jim is a Certified Public Accountant. He has been a partner with Moss Adams LLP since 1993, and he holds a Juris Doctor from Santa Clara University. He is also past president of Oregon Society of CPAs and a member of the Oregon Board of Accountancy.
Rupa Jack, Member at Large
Rupa Jack is a Senior Vice President, Senior Institutional Consultant, and Family Wealth Director, and has been with Morgan Stanley since 1987. Rupa earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, from Oregon State University in 1980, and in 1982, she completed her Master’s Degree from Portland State University. In her free time, Rupa serves on the Foundation Board of Self Enhancement Inc., Portland State University’s Board of Trustees, as well as the Maurice Lucas Foundation.
Master Sergeant Maurice D. Lucas II
MSgt Lucas is a graduate of Tigard High School. He began his military career Sept 2000 as an Entry Controller at McConnell AFB, Kansas. He has an A.A. In Criminal Justice and is pursuing his bachelors of science degree in Information Security Systems/Homeland Security at Columbia Southern University. MSgt Lucas is a member of the 6th Security Forces Squadron at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Florida holding the duty position of Flight Chief of Avenger Flight.
Mark Stephens
Mark is the owner of Stephens Homes, LLC based in Lake Oswego. He is a 5th generation Oregonian and attended Oregon State University. Mark has spent over 20 years volunteering as a member of the Mt. Hood Ski Patrol and was one of the founding members of the John Keyes Memorial Golf Benefit. Additionally, Mark has performed mission work in Port-au-Prince Haiti, constructing a medical clinic at the orphanage for Christian Haitian Outreach.
Mike Richardson
Mike is the President/CEO and founder of Dark Horse Entertainment, for which he created The Mask, TimeCop, and many other properties. He has produced numerous projects for film and television, including Hellboy, The Mystery Men, Polar and The Umbrella Academy. He is also is the President and Publisher of Dark Horse Comics, the award-winning international publishing house he founded in 1986. Mike owns a successful pop culture retail chain, Things From Another World, stretching from Universal’s City Walk in Los Angeles to his hometown in Milwaukie, Oregon. Mike has written numerous comics series, as well as co-authoring Comics Between the Panels and Blast Off, two criticality acclaimed books about pop culture. When not in Los Angeles he lives with his wife, Karie, and their three daughters in Lake Oswego, Oregon.
Kelli Sussman
Kelli is the owner of Consistent Image Web Design, a Portland web design company she started in 1999. She is a native Oregonian and a graduate of Oregon State University. She designed and manages the ML20 website and related social media and email marketing. When Kelli is not at her computer, she is spending time with her family outdoors, traveling and cheering on her favorite teams. Go Beavers, Go Blazers, Go Seahawks!
Rosie Webster
For more than twenty plus years, Rosie Webster has held various roles in a corporate setting. She has developed distinctive expertise in strategic development and project planning. As an advocate for diversity in both the workplace and the community, Rosie has provided mentorship to others within her organization and beyond. Rosie is a Senior Account Executive for Regence Blue Cross Blue Shield of Oregon.
Melissa Yacoby
Melissa has been with Fred Meyer Jewelers for 23 years and has been the Senior Executive Assistant to the President for the past 14 years. Melissa received the 2013 Fred Meyer Volunteer of the Year Award for her work with the American Cancer Society, CASA and Jewelers for Children. She serves on the Ambassador Board for CASA for Children of Multnomah, Washington and Columbia Counties. She also serves on the Fundraising committee for Jewelers for Children which has helped raise funds for CASA, Make-A-Wish, St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital and Elizabeth Glazer Pediatrics Aids Foundation. Melissa moved to Portland in 1999 from Fairbanks, Alaska and doesn’t ever plan on leaving.

Frank Brickowski
Frank attended Penn State University majoring in sports administration and business. A former NBA player, Frank also served as a player representative for the NBA union and currently works for the NBA Players Association. Frank served on the Board from 2010-2013.
Brian Grant
Brian attended Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio, where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in organizational communications. He played in the NBA for 12 years and is now the President of The Brian Grant Foundation. Brian served on the Board from 2010-2013.
Lionel Hollins
Former teammate and friend of Maurice Lucas, and a member of the 1977 NBA Championship Trail Blazer team. Lionel played professionally in the NBA for 10 years, and went on to coach in the NBA, most recently as the head coach of the Brooklyn Nets.
Terry Porter
Terry Porter is an American former college basketball coach and former player in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He was most recently the head men's basketball coach at the University of Portland. A native of Wisconsin, he played college basketball at the University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point before being drafted 24th by the Portland Trail Blazers in the 1985 NBA draft. In Portland, he played ten seasons with two All-Star Game appearances. Porter spent 17 years in the NBA as a player. Following his retirement as a player in 2002, he began coaching in the league. Porter has twice been a head coach, first with his hometown Milwaukee Bucks and then with the Phoenix Suns.
Bill Walton
Former teammate and friend of Maurice Lucas, and a member of the 1977 NBA Championship Trail Blazer team. ABC/ESPN/NBC Basketball Announcer, NBA All-Star Hall of Famer, UCLA All-American, and one of the fifty greatest players in NBA history.
In Memory of Jerome Kersey
Jerome attended Longwood University where he majored in social work. He had a successful career in basketball playing for the NBA for 17 years, most notably for the Portland Trail Blazers. Jerome served on the Board from 2010-2013. #JK25
In Memory of Bill Schonely ("The Schonz”)
"Mr. Rip City," Bill Schonely, was the voice of the Trail Blazers for almost three decades, from their birth in 1970 through the 1998 playoffs. Bill was a very close friend to the Lucas family. He served on The Maurice Lucas Foundation for 12 years and we are so lucky to have had his generosity and support through the years.
